Templemont Supportive and Independent Housing for Seniors

Location: Calgary, AB

This seniors’ housing complex consists of two buildings. The first is a four-storey building called Templemont Place with 50 affordable rental units targeted at independent seniors. Included are one- and two-bedroom units with in-suite laundry, open floor plans, secure fob entry, call centre for afterhours maintenance emergencies, common rooms, and outdoor courtyard. Most suites also include a balcony or outdoor patio.

The second three-storey building, Templemont Gardens, has 70 supportive care units. Included are both dormitory style rooms and fully furnished individual suites. The building includes self-serve laundry, lounges, and outdoor courtyard. Additional support services include light housekeeping, meal service in a shared dining room, recreational opportunities, 24-hour non-medical care personnel and on-site medical services, a 24/7 emergency response system, and on-site security. Also included is a 100-person multi-purpose hall for church and community use, as well as a 50-person multi-purpose room.

The entire project included underground and surface parking, landscaping, and site services.

The project made use of prefabricated wall and floor systems, which improved quality and accelerated the schedule for the installation of the wood-framed structure.

The project is designed with a high standard of energy efficiency and has 125 solar panels on the roof of Templemont Place.
