Case Study: Bonnybrook Wastewater Treatment Plant Cogeneration Facility

The Bonnybrook Wastewater Treatment Plant Cogeneration Facility converts biogas into consumable power. It is the first of its kind facility in Canada and, when handed over to the City of Calgary in early summer, will help the City with their corporate energy plan of conserving energy, improving efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

With many technical and design complexities, and an international supply chain of equipment impacted by the pandemic, the entire project team – consisting of Graham, Stantec and the City of Calgary – worked together to deliver a facility that converts biogas into power that can fuel the wastewater treatment plant.
