City of Saskatoon Fire Station No. 3

Location: Saskatoon, SK

This contract involved the construction of new 934 sqm (10,053 sqft) fire station in a new location to replace an older fire station for the City of Saskatoon. The new station includes community rooms with bookable space for public meetings and can also accommodate opportunities for health and wellness clinics, such as car seat check clinics.

The fire station was constructed with structural concrete from ground up to top of grade beam, then structural steel on grade beam with structural steel stud infill. The building was finished with masonry brick and tin siding exterior, building envelope air vapour barrier with clips insulation, and a finish was put onto the exterior of the insulation. The project also included landscaping and siteworks, including side grading and paving the parking lot.

The fire station was built with complete living space for the 20-person fire crew including a full stainless steel kitchen with commercial finishes and dorm rooms. The building has offices on both the second floor and on the main floor.

This station is unique to other newly built stations as it is the only new station equipped with a sliding pole.
