YVR South Field Electrical Centre Relocation
Location: Richmond, British Columbia
The new South Field Electrical Centre (SFEC) once completed will be a 6,000 sq. ft. stand-alone two-storey Electrical Building housing all components to supply normal and emergency power to runway lighting and taxiway lighting for all terminals at the Vancouver International Airport.
The building will consist of a metal clad steel and concrete hub housing electrical and mechanical switchgear and emergency generators which will feed the new LED lighting to the runways to replace existing lighting that is prone to failure.
Part of this major electrical upgrade includes installing a new 25kV unit substation, 2 new 800kW diesel generators and a new INERGEN fire suppression system.
This project also includes routing power from Domestic Terminal via previously built duct banks to the new site.
