YVR Pier D Bag Hall – Phase 3 & 4

Location: Richmond, British Columbia

As part of the continuous growth of the Vancouver Airport, the facilities for international baggage handling required an expansion which prompted the construction of the new Pier D Bag Hall.

Split into multiple phases the Pier D Bag Hall Phase 3 project includes the addition of the outbound baggage conveyor on Level 1 of the Vancouver International Airport within the existing International Terminal Building (ITB). Phase 3 also comprised a 120ft long tunnel extension under the main circulation roadway for the airport, sanitary and storm drainage, fire protection, power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security and communications works.

Phase 4 included the fit-out of the Pier D Bag Hall which was needed to support the installation of the new baggage equipment and to support the increased usage and occupancy of the Pier D Bag Hall. Graham’s scope of work is for the building work portion only and will comprise HVAC and plumbing upgrades, installation of a new staff washroom group, removal of clashes between existing systems and new baggage design elements within the bag hall space, installation of baggage ancillary items (e.g. FIDS, BIDS, BRS), relocation of interior fence lines, and installation of concrete filled steel barriers and column protection.
