YVR Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge
Location: Richmond, British Columbia
The new two-level, 16,000 sq. ft. Air Canada Lounge is located within the International area of YVR Airport and can accommodate 258 travellers at a time, offering them various amenities. The project consisted of two phases – the Base Building Expansion and the Fit-Out / Tenant Improvements.
The key challenge was coordination and compliance with airport security, access restrictions, safety and operational constraints. The location also presented many unique challenges as the work took place adjacent to a security passenger screening area, with an active lounge above, and high security offices for Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) below. The scope of work involved heavy structural steel work, numerous existing M&E service relocations, an AV system addition and high-end finishes.
Graham was able to successfully overcome these hurdles through innovative solutions and open communication with YVR, Air Canada and the two teams of design consultants that led the two distinct phases of the project.
