Trans-Canada Highway & Sarcee Trail Interchange Improvements
Location: Calgary, AB
The Trans-Canada Highway and Sarcee Trail Interchange Improvements project involved early contractor involvement through design-assist and contract management services. The key driver of this project was the newly required access for the Trinity Hills community development within Calgary, Alberta. The construction scope of work consisted of earthworks and roadworks construction, underground utilities, retaining wall supply and installation, two culvert pedestrian underpasses as well as various steel sign structures and foundations. The project also included the construction to two new bridge structures requiring extensive temporary works for the cast-in -place girders and cast in place deck.
Graham was responsible for construction management and design assist services. Pre-construction involvement included six months of design assist from conceptual design through to detailed design. Graham’s construction expertise – including those nominated for the West Calgary Ring Road Project -provided insight to determine bridge and retaining wall structure type with design engineers. The team also managed the procurement and construction scheduling; structural detail review and recommendation; budgeting; site investigation; detour planning and utility conflict resolution for both Third Party and City utilities.
