Stuart Lake Hospital -Redevelopment

Location: Fort St. James

In October 2024, Graham successfully reached Substantial Completion for Phase 1 of the new Stuart Lake Hospital, located in Fort St. James, BC. This milestone marks the handover of the progressive design-build 27-bed hospital to the Northern Health Authority for further fitout and operational readiness.

The new hospital, a crucial upgrade for the community, replaces the aging facility and consolidates essential services, including an emergency department, inpatient care, expanded laboratory, diagnostic imaging, a primary care clinic, and long-term care. Serving a population of approximately 300,000 people, including including the F irst Nations communities of the Takla Lake, Tl’azt’en, Binche Whut’en, Nak’azdli Whut’en, and Yekooche, the hospital significantly improves access to healthcare for the region.

Once fully operational in early 2025, the hospital will house physicians, visiting specialists, substance-use support services, home and community care, and public health services, all in one location. This consolidation reduces travel for patients and staff needing diagnostic services.

Graham is now preparing for Phase 2, which involves demolishing the old facility and completing the final siteworks.
