St. Mary’s Hospital Expansion
Location: Sechelt, British Columbia
Graham’s work at the St. Mary’s Hospital involved the construction of a new 57,000 sq. ft. tower expansion and renovation to the existing hospital, as well as construction of a new lobby, transforming the existing emergency department into the hospital’s main entrance.
The expansion offers single patient rooms, additional acute-care bed capacity, a new emergency department, renovated ambulatory care and radiology areas, as well as general greater surgical capacity. The new LEED Gold tower contains over 35 individual patient rooms, new labour delivery rooms, trauma rooms, emergency, and patient exam areas.
The building was designed to withstand seismic loads and required the construction of over 200 geothermal boreholes, shoring and underpinning around the existing building followed by 5 levels of cast-in-place concrete construction.
