SPS North Central High School

Location: Spokane, WA

Before this construction project, the North Central High School cafeteria was a small, dimly lit underground space that couldn’t accommodate all students at once. Additionally, connectivity between the existing school and a new addition was disrupted by an underground gymnasium and an outdoor plaza. Graham was tasked with creating a cohesive environment where students could gather and connect.

The project resulted in a spacious, bright, 32,000 sq. ft., two-story cafeteria and commons area, featuring new learning spaces, a modern kitchen, multiple skybridges, and a new concession stand. This project was particularly challenging due to the complexities of working within an active school environment, between two buildings, and above an occupied gymnasium. Despite these challenges, all work was completed on time and within budget.
