Spring Gardens Bus Storage and Transit Technology Building
Location: Calgary, AB
This project involved two contracts for the expansion of the existing City of Calgary Transit Bus Storage facility and the construction of a new two-storey Transit Technology building.
The expansion to the City of Calgary Transit Bus Storage facility was located to the east and south of the existing building and was augmented by new underground service lines and a new above grade 80,000 litre fueling system. The scope of work also included site works and paved parking.
The second contract included a new LEED Gold, two-storey facility for the repair and maintenance of high-end electronic devices including transit signs and ticket centres. It contains workshops, administration offices, storage areas, staff amenities and an indoor vehicle storage garage.
All work was performed on an active City Transit site, so careful planning of site logistics, coordination with subtrades, and careful scheduling ensured the public was kept safe at all times and there were no interruptions to ongoing transit operations.
