Ring Road Northbound & Southbound over Wascana Creek Bridge Replacements

Location: Regina, SK

This project involved the replacement of both of the Ring Road North and Southbound bridges over Wascana Creek with the addition of a third southbound lane to facilitate exit on to Assiniboine Avenue and relieve traffic congestion in that area.

The construction required the design, installation, maintenance and eventual removal of temporary paved crossovers over the median strip for the purpose of diverting traffic from the current work areas. Additionally, a traffic control plan was developed to coordinate traffic merges and redirection away from the active work zone.

The bridge replacement required the complete removal of asphalt, girders, bridgerails and approach guardrails as well as the demolition of the existing abutments, piers and retaining walls.

New abutment and pier piles were driven into the ground and the new concrete abutments and wingwalls were poured followed by the installation of the new precast concrete pier caps and box girders to prepare for the deck.
