Port Dover and Nanticoke Wind Power Project
Location: Jarvis, ON
Located on the north shore of Lake Erie, this project featured the construction of 58-Vestas model V90-1.8 MW wind turbine generators with a total installed nameplate capacity of 104.4 MW. Additional components included a 34.5-kilovolt (kV) underground and overhead electrical power line collector system, fibre-optic data lines from each turbine, a substation, an operation and maintenance building, a stormwater management pond, a meteorological tower and associated underground power and data cabling, and turbine access roads with culvert installations at associated watercourse crossings.
The scope also included procurement of the main transformer and DSTATCOM equipment. The electrical power line collector system will transport the electricity generated from each turbine to the substation, located adjacent to an existing Hydro One Networks Inc. 230-kV transmission line.
The project team achieved all project milestones related to schedule, quality, and environment, even despite delays due to third party permitting issues
