Owen Sound Wastewater Treatment Plant Update

Location: Owen Sound, ON

The Owen Sound Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade project is the largest single infrastructure project in the City of Owen Sound’s history (to date). The Owen Sound WWTP upgrade involved new construction and renovation of existing facilities. Implementation of various pre-selected specialty equipment packages, mechanical works, including process piping and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); installation of wastewater treatment process equipment, and electrical modifications and improvements were also included in the scope of work. Upgrades of existing control systems and new control systems, and various instrumentation systems were also executed.

Due to the multiple modifications to existing operating facilities, coordination with plant operators, engineers, and the City of Owen Sound was a critical component in successfully completing the works. Systems were brought online in a gradual, systemic, staged integration approach to ensure that there was no impact to the operating plant. All testing, start-up and commissioning tasks were self-performed by Graham. Upon the completion of each new portion of the work, the plant operations team was trained by Graham on how to operate the new equipment and process systems.
