Graham is excited to share a major milestone in the Stuart Lake Hospital Replacement project. On October 8, 2024, Graham successfully reached Substantial Completion for Phase 1 of the new hospital on schedule. This marks the official handover to the Northern Health Authority, enabling them to begin preparing the facility for operations.
Located in rural Fort St. James, BC, the new 27-bed hospital is a vital upgrade for the community, replacing the aging existing facility. It will consolidate essential services such as the emergency department, medical inpatient care, expanded laboratory, diagnostic imaging, primary care clinic, and long-term care under one roof, providing improved and comprehensive care to the region.
This milestone was achieved thanks to the hard work and dedication of the entire project team in partnership with Northern Health Authority.
“I am extremely proud of the project team’s efforts in completing this project for the Northern Health Authority on schedule, while also meeting all the other key project metrics. Healthcare projects are inherently complex and demanding, and the challenges are compounded when working in a remote area, adding to the significance of this achievement. It is particularly rewarding to see this critical healthcare facility delivered in a region where it is so badly needed, as it will have a profound and lasting impact on the community of Fort St. James and the surrounding area.” Dave Corcoran, Vice-President, Healthcare
Graham will continue to be on-site to support the client’s preparations for the hospital’s official opening in January 2025. Additionally, Phase 2 of the project, which involves the abatement and demolition of the current hospital and final siteworks, is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
