Project Updates
Graham is proud to announce a significant milestone on the Terwillegar Drive Stage 2 project for the City of Edmonton, AB. The team has successfully completed the installation of three girder lines: one for the westbound traffic bridge, one for the eastbound traffic bridge, and one for the new independent shared-use path bridge over Rainbow Valley. Each girder line spans approximately 190 meters and weighs between 270,000 and 300,000 kilograms.
A combination of tandem crane lifts and launches was used to install the girders. The heaviest lift involved hoisting four spliced girders simultaneously, with a total weight of 135,000 kilograms. To minimize traffic disruptions, the erection of the eastbound bridge was completed overnight, requiring four different roadway configurations each night to maintain smooth traffic flow.
This milestone represents a major step forward in the Terwillegar Drive Stage 2 project and highlights Graham’s ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in construction.
