Graham is pleased to announce its selection, along with HDR Architecture, to enter into the alliance-development phase of the CDN $1.96B Richmond Hospital Redevelopment project, which will ensure all parties are aligned and committed to working together effectively.
“We want to create a hospital that embraces each person’s unique care journey with the utmost compassion and respect. We are thrilled to have reached this significant milestone, where the future impact of the new acute-care tower, the Yurkovich Family Pavilion, is in sight for our community.”
– Gail Malenstyn, Vice President, Richmond Acute Service
It is anticipated this phase will take one year. Phase two construction of the new Yurkovich Family Pavilion is expected to start in 2026. This marks a significant milestone in enhancing healthcare infrastructure in the Richmond, BC region.
Project Overview
The redevelopment includes the construction of the nine-floor acute-care tower, the Yurkovich Family Pavilion, featuring 113 hospital beds, an expanded emergency department, additional operating rooms, an intensive care unit, a state-of-the-art medical imaging department (including three new CT scanners and an MRI), a pharmacy, and short-stay pediatrics. These upgrades are essential to meet the acute care needs of Richmond’s growing and aging population, while ensuring the facility is earthquake-safe and built above the flood plain. The redevelopment will also include new upgraded equipment to enhance patient care.
“Graham is pleased to collaborate with HDR and Vancouver Coastal Health on the Richmond Hospital Redevelopment project. With extensive experience delivering medical facilities across North America, our team looks forward to contributing to this vital healthcare expansion for the citizens of Richmond and surrounding areas.”
– Richard Ellis-Smith, Executive Vice President, Buildings Canada, Graham
