Graham is excited to share an update on the Southeast Event Centre located in Steinbach, Manitoba…
FIRST PUCK DROP
The Steinbach Pistons’ game against the Selkirk Steelers marked the unofficial opening of the Southeast Event Centre (SEC), a long-awaited multi-use facility in downtown Steinbach. The SEC is designed to be a hub for sports, entertainment, and community events, offering a 2,400-seat hockey rink that can transform into a 4,000-person venue for concerts, trade shows, and other large gatherings.
In addition to the rink, the SEC features a full-sized gymnasium with a walking track, conference rooms, an atrium, and a restaurant with an outdoor patio. The facility is expected to enhance community engagement, create new opportunities for local events, and attract visitors to the region.
Michelle Sawatzky-Koop, SEC’s communications director, emphasized the excitement surrounding the centre’s opening. She noted that residents have eagerly anticipated its completion and believe it will serve as a vital space for connection and growth. With its versatility, the SEC is set to become a central gathering place, supporting everything from sports tournaments to graduations.
An official grand opening is planned for late summer, but the impact of the SEC is already being felt as it brings people together and strengthens Steinbach’s identity as a thriving, connected community.
