Among the Best

February 22, 2021

The Toronto Construction Association recently announced the winners of their Best of the Best Awards, and Graham took home to the prize for the Medium Sized Project Achievement for the construction of the South East Community Centre (Trafalgar Community Centre) in Oakville, ON.

These awards recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions in the construction industry. Specifically, the Project Achievement Award pays tribute to companies who raise the bar in term of professional excellence.

Graham delivered the South East Community Centre through the highly collaborative Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) contract model. The 4,180m2 (45,000 sq. ft.) facility was built on the former Oakville hospital site and includes a gymnasium, fitness studio, walking track, fitness centre and aquatics centre with two pools.

The community centre is set back from the property line to maximize green space and house a neighbourhood park. The park includes soft landscaping and trees, accessible seating and picnic tables, a play structure, outdoor rehabilitation equipment, a plaza including a water feature with LED lighting for evening use, a pavilion with covered seating and bicycle parking.

The building also includes energy efficient features such as a rooftop solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling systems, car charging stations for electric vehicles and a battery energy storage system.

We are honoured to receive the Medium Sized Project Achievement Award for this amenity-rich community centre and be among the best in the industry.
