Glenmore Trail and Ogden Road SE Interchange

Location: Calgary, AB

Addressing the growing needs of the City of Calgary, Graham acted as the General Contractor and delivered the reconstruction of a significant portion of the main travel lanes on Glenmore Trail between 18th Street and Barlow Trail, providing local access to 30th and 31st Streets through the construction service roads. The project also involved the construction of a new 6-lane Glenmore Trail SE alignment from 18th Street interchange to Barlow Trail, involving the construction of a new interchange at Glenmore Trail and Ogden Road. The interchange is comprised of a 5-lane, 65-meter bridge as well as a new 8-lane, 125-meter grade separated crossing of both CN and CP Rail as well as the Western Headworks Irrigation (WHI) Canal.

Graham competently self-performed all structure work and managed the following subtrades to complete the associated works: deep utilities; earthworks; MSE and noise wall; lighting and ITS; and roadworks and landscaping. Graham also accomplished the erection of all 70 precast concrete NU girders on the project.

The project involved many complexities. One included the implementation of the Traffic Management Accommodation Strategy in order to prevent traffic interruptions and to ensure that the existing lanes remain opened through the rush-hour periods. To ensure the project was very successful in maintaining the existing flow of traffic during construction, working with the design team was key to completing the final detour and temporary access roadways.
