Edmonton North Light Rail Transit (Metro Line)
Location: Edmonton, AB
In an equal joint venture partnership with SNC-Lavalin Constructors (Pacific) Inc., under the name North Link Partnership, Graham was awarded a contract to provide construction management for the development of the Edmonton North Light Rail Transit (“LRT”) to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (“NAIT”).
The scope of work includes construction of a new 3.3-km LRT extension from downtown Edmonton to NAIT and features three new LRT stations, a tunnel section between Churchill station and the new MacEwan station, traction power, rail and communications and controls systems.
Graham developed several innovations that added value to the project. For example, Graham is retaining large quantities of recycled asphalt and concrete on-site for re-use as temporary construction material, along with a robust recycling program for other materials on-site. Graham is also working with the owner to revamp and optimize communication and power systems to ensure there is no inference with existing duct bank lines and electrical systems.
