Court of Queen’s Bench Addition & Renovation
Location: Saskatoon, SK
This project was a heritage renovation to the existing Court House in Saskatoon. It consisted of the construction of a new four-storey concrete structure addition with one level of underground parking. Renovation of the existing three-storey structure took place after the addition was occupied by the client.
Between the addition and the renovations, the project included a total of nine (9) courtrooms, a new entrance, as well as new administration areas and offices for the judges. This entire project took place while the building remained in use by the public, including changing of the mechanical and electrical systems to bring them up to current standards. During the course of the project, there were a number of scheduled phases required to allow the owners to maintain operation of the courthouse throughout construction. The addition introduced new levels of complexity due to its close proximity to the property line, requiring significant shoring to maintain the neighbouring property.
