Construction of Two Overpasses on Highway 1

Location: Swift Current, SK

The Overpasses on Highway No. 1 project near Swift Current, SK included the construction of two overpasses on one of Saskatchewan’s busiest highways. The scope of work included the rehabilitation of both the overpass structures on the eastbound lanes and westbound lanes over the CP Rail mainline.

The scope of work for the westbound overpass construction included removal of the existing asphalt surfacing, and demolition of the existing precast concrete stringers, bridge deck, barriers, and guardrail. Steel piles were installed followed by the substructure modification. Repairs to the substructure included crack injections, which was completed to meet the project specifications. The eastbound overpass scope of work includes the removal of existing asphalt surfacing and demolition of the existing steel girders, bridge deck, barriers, guardrail, piers, and abutments. The abutments and piers required new H piles, installed according to the project specifications.
