Boyne Lodge Personal Care Home

Location: Carman, MB

This project involved a new 80-resident addition and staff/community building, and a complete renovation of the existing 30-bed long-term care facility. Graham led the design, procurement, construction, contract administration, and post-construction activities, utilizing Lean methodologies. The Design-Build team worked in close collaboration with Boyne Care, Southern Health- Santé Sud, and Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living (MHSAL). Boyne Lodge is a pilot project for the new “small house” design for long-term care facilities in Manitoba, which considers and incorporates accessibility requirements throughout the entire facility. Resident room sizes/layouts, door widths, sinks, showers, etc., have all be designed and constructed to accommodate wheelchair access. Like many projects in rural areas, the Boyne Lodge project involved the wider community, thus, Graham prioritized the insight of the local community members.
