Bowness Lagoon Courtyard and Concession

Location: Calgary, AB

This project involved the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new concession building, timber deck, and boat dock situated around the lagoon in Bowness Park. Bowness Park is historical to the community and has been a service to Calgary for the last 100 years.

The new concession building was constructed on a concrete foundation with the main frame built out of structural BC timber frame. The roof materials are a combination of metal and cedar shakes to compliment the timber frame. An additional part of the build includes the construction of a maintenance garage on the site to house the park’s train and Zamboni. The treated timber deck is founded on 400mm diameter drilled concrete piles.
