Graham to Complete Critical Water Main Repairs in Calgary Ahead of Schedule

September 17, 2024

Graham is proud to announce the repairs to the City of Calgary’s Bearspaw South Feeder Main will be completed one week ahead of schedule. This achievement stands as a testament to Graham’s ability to complete work efficiently and safely, and also exemplifies the remarkable efforts of our dedicated team.

Earlier this year, the City of Calgary experienced a critical failure with the Bearspaw South Feeder Main, which led to strict water use restrictions for residents and highlighted the importance of water conservation and infrastructure maintenance. Emergency repair crews, including Graham, assisted to repair the damaged watermain, less than 12 hours after receiving the support request.

Following the emergency repairs, the City of Calgary identified 21 new locations along the Feeder Main that required urgent repair. The City hired Graham as the General Contractor to carry out the pipe encasement repairs along 33 Avenue and 16 Avenue NW. Graham mobilized a crew of over 21 project management staff, four underground contractors and 150 concrete workers to complete this critical repair.

Bearspaw Feeder Main Update

“I am exceptionally proud of what our entire project team has accomplished to complete the pipe encasement work one week ahead of an already condensed schedule. We had amazing collaboration between our subcontractors, many direct competitors, and all of whom brought can do attitudes to get the project completed. Our suppliers made deliveries day and night to facilitate the compressed project schedule. The City of Calgary and Associated Engineering have been fantastic to work with, working around the clock and allowing us to advance the work efficiently. The biggest accolades go to the crews on the front line working long hours, night and day, through heat and rain getting the work done safely and efficiently,” – Bryce Terry, Graham Construction Project Director.
