Progressive Design-Build Contract for Cariboo Memorial Hospital Awarded to Graham

February 21, 2023

Following Graham’s award of the Design Early Works Agreement for the Cariboo Memorial Hospital redevelopment, Graham is proud to announce that we have recently signed the design-build agreement for Phase 1 and the CM Agreement for Phase 2.

The new 102,000 sq. ft hospital (Phase 1) will be built as an extension to the existing hospital and includes upgraded services to the existing facility. New spaces include an emergency department, medical/surgical inpatient units, maternal care and women’s health, and pharmacy services.

Once the new build is complete, the existing facility will undergo a phased renovation of existing departments (Phase 2) under a construction management agreement, including a new main entrance, mental health and substance use inpatient department, ambulatory care department, and University of British Columbia faculty of medicine academic space.

Construction is slated to start in March 2023. Phase 1 is scheduled for completion in fall 2026 and Phase 2 is scheduled for completion in early 2029.

Cariboo Memorial Hospital serves the population living in Williams Lake and in adjacent rural and remote areas including the Cariboo Chilcotin and 100 Mile House Local Health Areas.  Cariboo Memorial Hospital is located within the traditional territories of the Secwepemc (Shuswap Interior Salish) First Nation, with other First Nations in proximity, including the Tsilhqot’in (Chilcotin) First Nation, T’exelcemc First Nations (Williams Lake Indian Band), Xat’súll First Nation (Soda Creek Indian Band) and Dãkelh Dene (Carrier) First Nation.

Graham is excited to be delivering this progressive design-build contract and improving healthcare for residents in the region with a new, state-of-the-art facility.
