Maple Leaf Foods Plant Expansion
Location: Winnipeg, MB
This project involved an expansion of Maple Leaf Foods’ Winnipeg facility.
The scope included five concurrent projects within Maple Leaf Foods’ existing Winnipeg facility: two new expansions to the bacon plant, a new wastewater treatment facility, a new central utilities plant, and a renovation of the existing powerhouse. An incredible amount of planning and coordination was required to fast-track the construction activities without impacting the daily operations of this high-volume food production facility. At its peak, the workforce involved almost 500 workers daily, spread across the five projects, working multiple shifts.
The facility is a federally registered and licensed food processing facility under the supervision of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), designed and constructed to meet or exceed CFIA requirements and HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points) principles.
Graham’s strong prior relationship with this client was instrumental in securing this major contract.
