Parkland Integrated Health Centre
Location: Shellbrook, SK
This project entailed the construction of a new two-storey, 6,731sqm (72,451 sqft) integrated healthcare facility. One wing is dedicated to acute care, and another wing is dedicated to extended care. This new integrated facility replaced the Shellbrook Hospital and Parkland Terrace long-term care facility. The new building has 34 spaces for long-term care and 20 beds for acute care patients. It also houses a variety of community-based programs such as home care, public health, mental health, addictions, therapies, etc.
The project took place in a small town and the community was very interested and engaged. The project team hired local workers and also integrated heavily with local authorities (councilors) and media to inform everyone about progress, answer any questions, and ensuring the project would meet the Owner’s and the community’s needs.
