Waterton Lakes National Park Visitor Centre is Open

March 3, 2022

Graham is proud to share that the Government of Canada has opened Waterton Lakes National Park’s new Visitor Centre to the public. The visitor centre opened on February 16, 2022, and Graham was the project’s prime contractor.

The new visitor centre is located in southern Alberta’s Waterton Lakes National Park. This is the park’s main visitor-oriented facility and is a destination for both area visitors and local residents. Open year-round, it effectively integrates into the community and reflects the beauty of the surrounding landscape. The new facility includes modern interpretive exhibits, interpretive programming, and visitor information services. Exhibits highlight the area’s substantial biodiversity, unique landscapes and the forces of nature that shape them, including wind and wildfire.

The interpretive component of the visitor centre was developed with input from local Indigenous communities. Exhibits include audio-visual elements, interactive displays, and 3D topographic maps. The facility is also home to a new interpretive theatre.

In addition to the visitor centre itself, Graham also delivered an administration building, new public washrooms, an outdoor public plaza, and outdoor walking paths and interpretive exhibits. Graham is proud to have delivered these amenities that not only enrich each visit to the area, but also celebrate Waterton Lakes’ remarkable nature and culture.
